Today in History : Week 1

!!HAPPY LATE THANKSGIVING QUEERBAGS!!
Wow, super late Happy Thanksgiving. Oops.
We hope you all had a "gobble-tastic" day and ate your lil faces off. ALSO we hope you had an eggcellent Black Friday (see below post) and a cherry poppin-ly awesome Cyber Monday! I'm officially broke.

So I want to start doing this thing every Monday that shall be called "Today in History." Pretty clever name, right?
Well I feel like the title is self explanatory, but for all y'all tards out there lemme break(dance) it down. Every Monday I will post a fun fact history fact (didn't mean to type it that way, but I like it so I'm keeping it). Also this fun fact will be strictly American history... obviously.
I want to do this because A) history is fun B) we're called Discount Knowledge, and I think that random US facts that will serve you no purpose at all def fall under the discount category in your little knowledge inboxs (es?).

There will be two exceptions to this new weekly thingy:
1. If nothing semi interesting happened on that particular Monday, then I shall post on Tuesday.
2. If I forget... and seeing as how irregular the Wednesday Hump Day and the weekly shopping guides happen I should probably just give up now..

November 26, 1941- U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed a bill establishing the fourth Thursday in November as Thanksgiving Day in the United States.

First of all, this news has brought serious distraughtry (HA, like Chris Daughtry... that's funny I think?) to my night. This is just some randO fucking date that the President picked out to celebrate a feast that God knows what day was actually on! That's not cool, I feel like all those turkeys I've killed and pumpkin pies I've eaten where a lie. A big, fat lie.

Second, can anyone declare a Holiday? This is a serious question because I honestly think Italians should have their own special day. I mean Irish people have one (St. Patrick's Day) and Mexicant's have one (Cinco de Mayo). Idk, I think that's racism, but maybe that's just me.
